Thinking about next year

As this year is quickly coming to an end I am reflecting on what I liked about this year, what I didn't like so much, and what my goals for next year are.  Two goals that come to mind right away are: PENMANSHIP!!!  Ahhhhhh, I will spend more time focusing on neat, nice, finger-spaced handwriting.  I also want to spend more time getting to know my students as kids, not just students.  I find that I enjoy my job so much more when my students tell me something random and funny about home, a friend, recess...something that has nothing to do with math, reading, writing...learning.

I came across the below blog a while ago.  It looks like two teacher's share this blog (Rachelle and Natalie) and they have some wonderful ideas.  On a recent post they referenced a past post (from July 2011) about passwords... you have to check this out!  What a great way to connect with your students first thing in the morning :)

What the Teacher Wants!: Sight Word Ideas

Oh :)  and my world got a little brighter this weekend.  My first nephew, Nolan Benjamin, was born Saturday morning (6/2/12 @ 4:37, 7lbs 7oz, 18" long, and perfect).

Here he is :)  About 4 hours old in this picture.

He is the sweetest, calmest, most content baby I have ever held :)  I love him!!

  1. What a precious nephew!

I agree that spending time with our kiddos is so important. As part of Conscious Discipline, we have many breaks throughout the day that build those connections with each other. When those connections are made, there are often less discipline problems.

I was one of your first followers. I would love for you to come visit me. I have TONS of *freebies* I'll be sharing this summer. =)
